Ms Madison's & Ms Karen's Class - Toddler 3

Hello, and Happy Spring!

When this room opened in April, we focused on solidifying our classroom routines and building relationships because children learn best when they feel safe and comfortable. We kept our activities simple and practiced using lots of different tools such as markers, crayons, serving spoons, tongs, and toothbrushes. All are great for fine motor development. The children have almost mastered our routine of dumping plates after eating and washing hands. They are getting better at using sign language more every day.

In May, I chose to use the month to focus on what the children are showing interest in, which was Spring. We dove into all the changes that come with springtime. The class discussed the weather and clouds, observed bugs we saw, and pointed out all the new plants popping up. We even planted our own “seeds.” Children are naturally curious. While we focused on observing nature during May, they were able to ask questions and grow their knowledge of the world around them.

Some books we are reading in June are The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, Backyard Bugs by Jill McDonald, and It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Green Shaw. Ms. Karen and I also want to thank everyone who thought of us during Teacher Appreciation Week. We felt really spoiled and appreciated! Also, during June since we will be doing lots of water play, we will be focusing on water. We will be learning about the ocean, sea creatures, and the frog lifecycle.

Thanks,

Ms. Madison & Ms. Karen
