Ms Josy's Class - Infants

Hello, Infant Class Families!

Last month we focused on strengthening our large and small muscles with a variety of activities that I had provided, from finger/hand painting to standing, taking steps, and sitting up.

For the month of December, we will continue strengthening our large and small muscles. This is a big focus as there are so many things happening in your sweet babies’ bodies with their muscles. Every day they are exploring and figuring out new things their body can do such as finding our tongue and voices. We are engaging and encouraging messy play. This stimulates the 5 senses and helps your baby’s brain development.

As you are aware, the pandemic is at a high, so we are doing a lot of things to keep ourselves calm and co-regulate with each other. This includes adults. It is so important to take care of ourselves mentally as we are going through a lot of things. Self-regulation can be fun and feels great. To make it fun, we are going to sing songs with the kids. These songs are connector songs as we hold hands or hold the baby as we sing. Try the following to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat":

1.Hold baby’s hands or body under their arms

2.Using a calm, toned voice, sing “Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.”

3.As you’re singing, make yourself take a deep breath in before ‘merrily’ and let it out as you say the word the 4 times.

4.Repeat as much as baby is engaged.

As you are blessed with some extra time with your baby and being at home more often, there are still fun things to explore outside. Encourage yourself and your babies to explore the new temperatures outside. Sometimes it is cold but with some layers, a few minutes of running/walking outside around your yard will give you and your baby a lot of fun, good health.

Thank you so much for your attendance and communication!
