Ms Gabi & Ms Rebecca's Class - Infants 1
Love is in the air here at Ivy Academy! During the month of January, we were all still getting back into classroom routines with having time off to maintain our health. We also learned and talked about “gentle touch” and “soft hands”. The class got to use their taste buds and try sour/sweet items, and this was an experience with lots of interesting looks and responses from the littles! We used lemons, limes, pickles, etc.
Switching gears to February, we will be studying the concept of challenging behaviors. With each child, we will dig deep and observe to see what kind of challenges each infant may have; should it be with eating, attention seeking, or travel restrictions, documenting everything that we can see and charting a plan of action to use in the classroom. We will also inform the parents regarding ideas that can be used in the home to further support behavior.
Also, things will be getting a little creative in February. There will be a wide focus from nursery rhymes to exploring yarn, cotton balls, and making spots on the cow! We will be doing lots of finger songs that you can do at home with your little one for some one-on-one learning. We will be doing “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” and “Hey, Dittle Dittle”, just to name a couple, if you would like to carry over learning at home.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Miss Gabi & Ms. Rebecca
