Ms Ashley's Classroom 1

Hello, Classroom 1 Families,

So many different things have been happening in the classroom!

The class spent the month of October learning about health and safety. For a whole week we learned about all things fire safety and firefighters. The class used spray bottles and pretended to put out a fire that we made out of shaving cream and paint. We also learned about germs, why they are bad for us, and how to keep the germs away. Another lesson the class learned was about dental hygiene and why it’s important to brush our teeth. The class practiced brushing the dolls, dinosaur’s, and their own teeth.

Of course, we could not forget about the center harvest festival and the class Halloween party that the classes took part in. We had so much fun at both parties, and I hope everyone had a safe and fun October.

I am excited for the month of November as we will be learning about the Early Learning Guidelines of Self and Social Awareness. Self and social awareness for young children includes learning about themselves as a whole person and other individuals around them. I have learned through the early learning guidelines that as infants, toddlers, twos, and threes are able to notice differences between themselves and others; they will also begin to acknowledge and understand how to be respectful of each other’s unique individualities, abilities, and talents. Skills such as working independently, problem solving, and making decisions begin when young children engage in activities with others. These activities will not only build life skills, but they will also be the foundation of later learning in school topics such as history, geography, economics, and civics.

Ms. Ashley
