Ms Cara's Class - Infants

Hello, Infant Class Family & Friends!

This February has been so fun and busy as we've been focusing on Language Arts with our infants! They've enjoyed getting to see pictures of some of their favorite things (bottle, spoons, blankets, etc.) and reading their favorite books more frequently. We also have been working with them on baby sign language by helping them learn the signs for "more" and "thank you" and will continue to do so in the following months.

This next month, we will continue to focus on language arts. Specifically, we will be helping the infants to learn and respond to their own names and learning the names of those in their family.

Thank you to the parents that have contributed photos to our family wall - it's such a great addition to our classroom! If you haven't gotten a chance to email/bring us family photos, please email lkaufmann@delawarechild.org or myself at charrison@delawarechild.org .

Focusing on Language Arts for infants and toddlers may seem unimportant to some, but in reality, it is absolutely needed for children's development. In an article from the New York Times, the author states "...the key to early learning is talking--specifically, a child's exposure to language spoken by parents and caretakers from birth to age 3, the more the better." If you'd like to learn more on the importance of language arts for infants/toddlers, feel free to reach out to us!

As always, we welcome you all to visit our classroom at any time. We would love to have you read a book or two to our infants!

Ms. Cara
