Hello, Preschool 2 families!
Last month we were focusing on community helpers. The children really enjoyed learning about police officers, firefighters, construction workers, and doctors. The children learned what we are supposed to do when the fire alarm goes off; the children know how important it is to follow the rules. We also had a visitor from the doctor’s office. Nurse Jesse shared with the children various tools that they use at the doctor’s office, letting the children use his stethoscope to hear each other’s hearts and checking in their ears to make sure their ears were clean.
October is a great month for exploring and discovery. With fall being here now, the leaves will start to change colors, the weather will cool down, and it’ll be that time for apple and pumpkin picking. I want to encourage our families to make time to go outside and take a walk and explore the changes that are happening to the earth. That would be a wonderful time to share childhood memories of playing in the leaves with your children. Then you can work together to rake the leaves into a pile and jump in the pile or play hide and seek. Your family can go on a nature walk to pick up various leaves you see along the way, and you can discuss the different colors of the leaves and why the leaves fall from the trees.
Along with the change in weather, you can work as a family to explore the inside of a pumpkin. After cutting it open, let the children feel the inside of the pumpkin, asking them what they feel. Let the children pull all the pumpkin seeds out, and you can clean them and bake them in the oven for a tasty snack. With the help of an adult, let your child carve out something fun or spooky on the pumpkin.
We will be having a Halloween party on October 31st. I want to encourage our families to come and enjoy the fun! We will be having a sign-up list for treats if you would like to bring anything. On Halloween, the children are welcome to wear their costumes.
