Ms Erin & Ms Allison's Class - Early Preschool 2

We have had so much fun in the month of August learning about our five senses, what they are, and how each one is different. The children got to experience first-hand different textures, tastes, and smells.

There have been many transitions in the month of August as we have some new friends in our class. To help the children get comfortable in their new setting, we have been asking questions about one other and trying to help the children make those connections with their peers. As we finish the month of August, we will be sending out papers that you can fill out with your child at home. We are asking that you please bring at least 3 pictures about your home. It can be any animals you have, your family photos, or any interest your child may have. We will hang these in our class to help the children go through this transition period.

In the month of September, our focus will be on mathematics. We will be doing lots of activities that involve shapes, numbers and counting, and doing some patterns. Our objective during this month is to see where your child is at and what they know. This will give us a starting point so we can continue to help your child grow at the pace they need. We will have two areas of focus on our ELG’S. The first will be Mathematics Standard 1: The child will begin to develop awareness of patterns in the environment. The second one we will work on will be Mathematics Standard 3: Begin to develop an understanding of numbers, the counting process, and making comparisons (measurement).

Just a reminder that parent teacher conferences will be held September 16th – 19th. We will have a sign-up sheet on our door, and we encourage all of you to attend. We are looking forward to working with your children, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
