Ms Ashley's Class - Infants
Infants
The month of September was a fun month. We worked a lot on physical development and communication skills with the children. We are still working on our communication skills, especially with our sign language.
As for the month of October, I’m going to continue to focus on communication skills and focus on creative skills as well. The ELG that I will focus on is: Begin to recognize sounds and/or spoken words for familiar objects, people, and simple requests. To help children with their communication throughout October, I will work more on sign language. Sign language is a great way for children to communicate if they do not have the words. I will also work on sounds of letters and work on saying ‘momma’ and ‘da-da’.
Reading will also be an essential in the classroom. Reading to children helps expand the children’s vocabulary. Reading books to children every day helps them hear the different sounds of words. The ELG that I will focus on for creative skills is: Begin to understand his/her world by using senses to explore and experience the environment. To help the children with this standard, I will do more texture art in the classroom. I will also add different flavors in the paint as well so that they can work on their sense of smell. We will also play in the water more, if weather is permits. We will explore more with our scarfs and play peek- a- boo.
Since it will start to get cooler, I ask that parents please provide jackets and the proper clothes to wear since we will still go outside if the weather allows us too.
Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley
