Letter from the Director!
November is the month for giving thanks. Let’s explore some ways to teach our children to be thankful all year long.
One of the most effective and easiest ways is to model gratitude yourself. When children hear their parents talking about how grateful they are for things, they will begin to acknowledge gratitude within as well. Simply saying something like, “I am so thankful for this beautiful day” or “This food is such a blessing” can be a great start. Encourage children to say “Thank you” for gifts or acts of kindness shown towards them.
Teach them to appreciate and properly care for property. Show them the importance of caring for their belongings. Explain to them that things cost money. If toys get broken due to misuse, don’t make it a priority to quickly replace them. By allowing children to accompany you to the grocery store, they get the experience of seeing how much things cost. You can give them a small chore list at home to help with being responsible and grateful for the things in their own home.
From everyone here at Ivy Academy, we thank you for sharing your children with us. We are so grateful to be a part of your child’s development.
