Letter from the Director!
Delaware Child Development teachers know the critical role they play in supporting families and children, especially in such challenging times. With that said, I want to thank you all for your participation in Parent/Teacher Conferences via Zoom. It’s so important that even with viruses like Covid19 infecting people that we still have good communication between our teachers and families. Our teachers want families to know that they can ask us about anything, and we’re here to provide whatever support we can. We are learning new ways to stay connected with parents. As I shared with my staff, this is new to some of us, and we will take it one day at a time. As new information comes out, we will take the research and make the safest choice for the children and the families we serve as well as the staff.
I also share with the teachers that their work is being seen and valued as essential workers. Although our center is operating with the extra safety precautions, our teachers are reading and participating in online trainings. They are still coming up with playful and engaging activities to do in their classrooms. The Covid19 pandemic has had an enormous impact on all our lives, and it has presented some unique challenges to the field of early childhood education. We are looking for unique ways to compensate for these challenging times. With that said we are seeking parents that are interested in joining our policy council meetings. Please email or call Tina McClintic at 918-397-7328 or tmcclintic@delawarechild.org if you are interested in helping.
Thank you,
