Ms Mollie's Classroom 3
Hello from Classroom Three!
We are so glad that our friends have returned to school. The children have had so much fun seeing each other and sharing many hugs, laughs, and smiles. They have had great resiliency coming back as if no time has passed, and they have picked up right where they had left off.
Summer is in full swing, and we have been soaking up the sun. Everybody now has sunglasses to protect their eyes and hats to protect their heads and face. The children have been learning about trading and using their sharing words with our fun and colorful new additions to our outside play. With temperatures already being so hot, we have started a new routine of after breakfast and bathroom, we all go outside together or split the class depending on the number of children. If you see our class, we usually have our swimsuits on and smell of sunscreen.
For this next month, we will be continuing our potty training as ALL of our class is potty training together. They are encouraging their friends with cheers, smiles, and praises. But our big focus this month will be to strengthen our communication skills. For some children that might mean learning how to form certain sounds better, working on our tones, and learning new words to add to their growing vocabulary. This will mean we will be talking nonstop and going into detail and explaining and repeating over and over and over. We ask that our families do the same to mimic what we are doing in the classroom so that the same standard is set at both school and home. As adults, we have to be mindful of how we communicate with them; we might have to slow our speech down so that they can process what we are saying and how we are saying it. Those little ears are always listening even when you think that they are not. Let's try to have positive communication when they are around. Watching our tones and making sure inappropriate words are not being said around them are very important because they listen and pick up things and bring them to school and teach their friends. We want to make sure they are teaching their friends appropriate words.
Something new that our Family Service Coordinator Joanna has been talking about is take home activities for families over the weekend. I am hoping to start that this month, and if not, the next, so be looking forward to some fun activities to do together as a family.
