Letter from the Director!

April 7, 2020

Dear Parents of Delaware Child Development Center,

I would like to share with you the extra safety precautions that we are taking here at the center. We are only caring for the children of essential workers. We are taking the temperatures of teachers and children before they enter the classrooms. We are not allowing anyone to stay in the center that has a temperature of 100.4 or coughing. Our ratios are very low at this time which allows the teachers that are still working able to bleach everything that is touched in this center multiple times a day. We have always practiced good handwashing, but we are washing the hands of the children and our own no less than every hour. We aren’t practicing family style dining currently. All the teachers are serving the food to the children while wearing gloves. Our entryway and equipment used where the parents clock their children in/out on the ProCare and EBT machines are sanitized after every use.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact (6 feet) with people who are unwell.

HOW IT SPREADS

Coronavirus disease spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.

You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you:

Do:

Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub

Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze

Avoid close contact (6 feet) with people who are unwell

Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell

Don't:

Touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean

Thank you,

Site Director
