Hello T2 Families!
During the month of March we worked on building relationships with adults and each other. We will continue to work on this during the month of April. We will do activities where we interact with others, such as building block towers together; taking turns; group painting; sing-alongs; learning about each other and ourselves by talking about our favorite toys, colors, songs, and books; things that make us happy; and things we enjoy doing.
Please be sure to send your child with some family photos for their picture wall, allowing them to see and share important relationships in their lives. We will laminate and display the photos at the children’s eye level so that they are able to see them and have important conversations with their peers about the photos that belong to them. Please feel free to email those pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would also love for you (when we are able to have you come back into the rooms again) to read a book to the class from the selection of books in our class Library.
Another way we will continue to help the kids build relationships and relationship skills is by interacting with them, helping them to develop on the stages of play. The following are the stages of play for early childhood:
Solitary Play (Birth-2 Years)
This is the stage when a child plays alone. They are not interested in playing with others quite yet.
Spectator/Onlooker Behavior (2 Years)
During this stage a child begins to watch other children playing but does not play with them.
Parallel Play (2+ Years)
When a child plays alongside or near others but does not play with them. This stage is referred to as parallel play.
