Is Your Child Getting Enough Sleep?

Sleep is important to how your child learns, grows, and even behaves. Children who get enough sleep regularly do better in school and have fewer behavioral issues.

Here are a few of the signs that your child may not be getting enough sleep. Your child could be unusually hyper or excited. They are having a hard time paying attention. They have meltdowns over something that normally wouldn’t cause a reaction, or they are just moody.

Having a set bedtime and a routine or ritual are often helpful. These should also be followed as closely as possible on the weekends.

Try setting the bedtime routine for 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime, limit beverages at this time, turn off the TV or video games, provide a book to read, or allow for quiet conversation.

Remember, consistency is key.
