Meet Our New Teachers!
Ashley Smith, Support Staff
Hi, my name is Ashley Smith. I grew up in California but have resided in Oklahoma for about five years now. I am a full-time student, full -time mom, and full-time employee. I am currently working on my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development with Differentiated Instruction specializing in early learning. It has been a long journey for me, and I am reaching close to my graduation date of August 2020. My experience working with early childhood varies in many ways. I have been a nanny, swim instructor & lifeguard, teacher assistant, and now as a support teacher.
Upon graduation, I plan to obtain my teaching license in hope of becoming a preschool or Kindergarten teacher. I believe early childhood education and development is important in many ways. That is because as a parent, I was and still am my son’s first teacher. Both as a parent and teacher, it is my responsibility to provide our children with positive quality learning that will help promote development and growth. Watching my son grow as a learner through the past few early years of school has made me so proud and amazed on how much he has grown as an individual and a learner. As an early childhood educator, I want to help children grow and develop as learners. In my free time, I enjoy crafting such as DIY projects, sewing, redecorating, and soon learning how to wood burn. Also, if I am not crafting, I am going on adventures with my son, walking the dog or cat, taking photographs, journaling, cleaning, or just relaxing.
Rocio Ambriz, Support Staff
Hello, my name is Rocio (Row-see-oh). I am 24 years old and currently employed through Delaware Child Development as a Support Staff. This position allows me to interact with every child in our center. I am currently enrolled in online CDA courses, and I am almost to the finish line, although my experience in childcare goes a long way back. The past 5 years I have worked with children from Birth to Preschool. I am always looking for different methods and trainings to expand my knowledge in Child Development. I am also a mom of two boys and am very involved in both their schools. Having children and aspiring to give them the most resilience in the early ages of life is so important to me. We must remember each child is different, and supporting their methods of learning will always shine through. Thank you for sharing your children with me; it is an honor to be part of their growth.
