Ms Ashley & Ms Chyanne's Class - Infants

In the month of December, the children learned so much while working on their physical development and creative skills. We decided to keep focusing on these standards for the month of January as well. As for the month of January, we will be focusing on creative skills and physical development standards with our children. The standard for the creative skills that we will be working on is: Begin to understand his/her world by using senses to explore and experience the environment. By working on this standard with the children, we will be able to build their senses with many things, such as painting with different textures in the paint. For example, they will be painting with Cool Whip, Kool-Aid, and Jell-O. By letting the children explore these different things, it will broaden their senses in many ways.

As for our physical development standard, we will be focusing on Standard 1: Demonstrate basic locomotor movements and Use large arm movements (non-locomotor). We are going to add another creative skill to work on with the children: Begin to express thoughts and feelings through creative movement, music, and dramatic activities. By adding this standard, the children will be able to express themselves in different ways such as music, imagination, and playing with dramatic play objects. We will be working more with the children on walking with assistance and walking without support.

In the new year, we will continue to develop these skills further. The babies are working very hard on getting around the classroom and being more independent. While focusing on these skills, we will work with the one-year old’s on walking with assistance, learning to climb on our climbing toy, and sitting at the table. As for the infants, we will be working with them on crawling, sitting, and being able to balance on all fours. Chyanne and I look forward to watching each one of the children grow in both areas.

Sincerely,

Ms. Ashley and Ms. Chyanne
