Ms Nicole’s Class—Preschool

Well, time sure flies when you’re having fun! Preschool has been having a blast with these boxes, and we have even worked super hard on our quiet space. We have been using the term “team work” a ton lately in class. I cannot express enough to the children how important it is to work together and help one another out. It’s fun to catch them working together and hearing them say, “Look, we are using teamwork!”

In the next few weeks we are going to continue our study on boxes and maybe see what else we can make from cardboard. We’re also going to add in some Valentines learning as well. We will discuss the importance of love, friendship and kindness. At this age children tend to tell one another they are not friends when they are upset at something that they do. I try to encourage them that we are everybody’s friend, and just because they make a mistake or a choice that we do not believe in, that does not mean we are not friends. We can find a solution to our problem. Problem solving is crucial at this age for these children. We try to ask questions and let them decide what solutions are best for the issue at hand. This way, they are having to use those skills on their own, and when the issue surfaces again, the tools are already in their mental tool box!

I cannot wait to see the boxes you and your children have created at home. Isn’t it amazing to experience creating those memories with them? I hope you can make it to the Valentine’s Day party in a few weeks. We would love to see you there!

Ms. Nicole
