July 2016

Dear Friend,

With the Fourth of July right around the corner, take advantage of all the decorations, activities, and community events to start out the month with a BANG!! Have lessons for the children in your care explaining that the reason we celebrate with parades, picnics, and fireworks is because the Fourth of July is our nation's birthday! Perhaps you can read books about our Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence, Paul Revere's Ride, and other events surrounding that time of our nation's history. You can talk to them about treasuring the freedoms that we have and to be proud to be Americans. You can teach them patriotic songs, such as "America, the Beautiful", "God Bless America", and of course, our national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner". Click here for some fun patriotic activities, and have a safe and fun 4th of July!!
