Volunteering at DCDC!

Dear Parents, Thank you for all you do to support the growth and development of children at our center! It means a lot to our children and teachers that we have so many parents who are willing to give us their personal time to volunteer. If you haven’t volunteered yet at DCDC, please speak with your child’s teacher about upcoming opportunities. We currently have some parents working with the Policy Council and regularly have a need for volunteers in the classroom, on field trips, and at Parent Meetings. Any time that you help out, your child’s teacher will have a form for you to sign to document the hours. Every month, parents come into the center to provide support and enrichment to the cla

February was so much fun! Thank you to our preschool families for helping us to celebrate friendship on Valentine’s Day! They had so much fun making their own fruit dip with Miss Bethany and getting to share it with their families at the party. The kids are always so excited when parents come in and participate in our activities!! Remember, our door is always open for parents to come in and read to the class or participate in any of our activities, and a special thank you to Aanya’s, Annie’s, and Ethan’s families for contributing to our journey through Asia! We have begun our travels through the seven continents and making discoveries about other cultures around the world. We started in A

During the month of February, we had so much fun drawing and gluing hearts and using all different effects to create a Valentine card for each parent. The children worked very hard and used beautiful items to make each card special. We have been learning about the heart muscle and where it is located. The children have also come to realize that in order to keep your heart happy and healthy, you must exercise to keep it strong. We ended our lesson with a Valentine party and delicious healthy treats. A huge thanks to all parents who brought goodies and joined us for our fun day! We appreciate you so much! We also enjoyed a Science experiment with eggs, food coloring, and vinegar. What will hap

February was an exciting month, and we have been learning and exploring like crazy! We went over dental hygiene, Valentine’s Day, and weather. Thank you to all the parents who brought things for our Valentine’s party and joined us. We had a blast and love when we get opportunities to all get together. We were able to nap outside on one of our nice weather days, and the kids loved it! In March we will be going over Dr. Seuss, Transportation, and Shapes. We are ready to keep learning! Don’t forget about Parent Teacher Conferences that are coming up the first week in March. There will be a sign-up sheet on our classroom door. Ms Jessica

Spring is Coming! In T1, we are so excited that warmer weather is just around the corner. Although our class had lots of fun learning about winter, snow, Christmas, and snowmen, we are ready to get started on new fresh ideas! For the month of March, we will be focusing on the changing season from Winter to Spring. We will be reading books about Seasons and the Weather. We also have some fun art planned, such as Rainy-Day Painting and a Flower Painting. We also will be having an Easter Egg Hunt planned on March 23rd. Parents, be on the lookout for more information on that! As always, please remember to dress your child appropriately as we still play outside depending on the weather. We hope y

The month of February has been so much fun with all of our sensory projects. We explored with contact paper and construction paper hearts to create visual art that was posted on our window. We even had more fun with our finger painting!! There were a couple of days with good weather, so we had the chance to go on stroller rides and play outside in our playground. We’re hoping for warmer weather as “winter” is slowly ending. Please continue to provide your children extra warm clothes and coats so that we are still able to go outside. Outdoor play promotes healthy benefits. Please CLICK HERE to read about these benefits. We have a couple of birthdays coming up this month! How exciting! Parents

NEA's Read Across America!

NEA's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. In cities and towns across the nation, teachers, teenagers, librarians, politicians, actors, athletes, parents, grandparents, and others develop NEA's Read Across America activities to bring reading excitement to children of all ages. Governors, mayors, and other elected officials recognize the role reading plays in their communities with proclamations and floor statements. Athletes and actors issue reading challenges to young readers. And teachers and principals seem to be more than
