The EPS class has been busy making crafts for December using loose parts to expand their creativity. Our favorite project is our Christmas tree made from sticks! The children helped choose the branches—biggest to smallest—and chose the decorations that would be used. Everyone took turns stating their opinion about what should go where. This doubled as a learning experience using Math, Senses, Language, Cognitive, Science, Gross, and Fine Motor skills. We are proud of our accomplishment! We also enjoyed practicing our songs for our Christmas program. It was held on Thursday, December 21st. The children sang Jingle Bells and Chubby Little Snowman. Everyone was excited to see their family membe

December came with a big surprise! We are so excited to have received a light table! It will be shared with the other classes as well, but we are very happy with how the children are enjoying it and loving it! We have had the chance to play with the colors red and green this month. With the weather not being as cold, we’ve also managed to continue with our outside play and have had the chance to go on stroller rides around the pond and view all the geese. The infants love sensory exploration! We have added the colors white and blue into our art lesson plans for the month of January. Also added into our lesson plans, we will be working with sensory experiences that include food! This will pro

Winter Safety!!

Dear Parents, Winter holidays create great family memories for years to come. And winter also brings with it unique dangers to a child’s environment. The following safety tips may make your holidays safer and more enjoyable this year: WINTER COAT SAFETY Taken from “The Dangers of Winter Coats and Car Seats: How to keep your child warm and safe,” by Emily A. Thomas, Ph.D., November 15, 2017 “As a general rule, winter coats should not be worn underneath a car seat harness because that can leave the harness too loose to be effective in a crash. Here's a simple way to check whether your child's coat is too big to wear underneath a harness: “Step 1: Put the coat on your child, sit him or her in

Bright Beginnings January Newsletter!

Dear Friends, We are beginning our new year with some great inaugural traditions! In support of celebrating the Good Times, we will also begin celebrating children each month. As parents have observed, we have a birthday board in our hallway. Each child’s special day is featured on the board. One day per month (the first Tuesday), we will celebrate our children for that month. On our celebration day, we will celebrate our birthdays in diverse ways to learn about different cultures as we share time together. All children who have a birthday in that month will join the leadership in the Family Area to celebrate. Our first celebration will be January 2. We will participate in the Chinese tradit

This month we will be talking about clothes!! Children in our class are very curious about why we wear what we do! We will look at things we wear inside and outside. Our class will also study other cultures as well, and the clothes of their land. Our class will also be doing more to help our friends. We have been building bridges among each other. We are still in need of some practice. I encourage parents to talk to your children about team work and what it means to be a good friend to one another. I’m so excited for the new year as we head into some of our friends’ BIG school time! Together we will develop skills needed to be ready for public school.

Happy 2018!!! Thanks to all of you who made our holiday a little more special! We are really blessed to be a part of your children’s lives. Brrr! The weather’s getting cold, so bundle up . . . winter time is here! We have a lot of learning and activities planned for the new year ahead. In the month of January, we will be learning about Winter and Arctic Animals. Our little friends love singing our winter song where we are reminded that the weather’s getting cold so the bears sleep in the cave, ducks and geese fly to the south, and the people in the town wear hats and gloves. We will be talking about all the things in the winter wonderland, especially my two favorites - snow and penguins! Dur

In January, TC will have already welcomed Ms Ashley into our class to help our class in transition. She has served BB for many years. Ashley is familiar with our children and their various developmental levels. She currently supports the classroom during breaks and training. Many students in TC also came from the Infant room here at BB where Ashley also supports the teachers. I would like to thank all the parents in my class for the great parent-teacher relationships that were built that made my job as a teacher much easier. Getting to teach and love on your children has given me much joy during my time here at Bright Beginnings. Although I am parting ways, it is difficult to leave the chil

HAPPY NEW YEAR from all of the babies at Bright Beginnings!!!! It is hard to believe that another year is already over. Last year brought many changes to our center, but they were all good changes. This year will bring more changes as some of our children will be transitioning to an older classroom, and we will be welcoming brand new friends into our little family. We have been learning new things, such as sitting in big kid chairs at the table, holding our spoon, feeding ourselves, and pulling up to stand. Some of the children have gotten brave and taken steps on their own. We will be learning more new things this coming month and exploring new toys coming into the classroom. Come join us a
