- “Intergenerational Week Brings Dr. Vicki Rosebrook to Bartlesville”
Intergenerational Week in Bartlesville features Dr. Vicki Rosebrook, Executive Director of the Macklin Intergenerational Institute, Findley, Ohio, in a variety of venues on the benefits of intergenerational programming. The week's events are free and will be Monday through Wednesday, January 25-27. Details are available by calling Delaware Child Development, 918-337-6500.
Monday, January 25, Dr. Rosebrook will speak to the Noon Rotary Club Meeting at the Bartlesville Community Center on "Imagine a Place". Oklahoma Wesleyan University hosts Dr. Rosebrook on Monday for two presentations in the OWU Library, a student training at 2 p.m. entitled "Intergenerational Experiences" and a provider training at 7 p.m. entitled "Interaction/Connection/Relationship".
Tuesday, January 26, Wal-Mart Distribution Center claims Dr. Rosebrook for a special presentation for their managers, then she appears at Delaware Child Development for the Success by Six/Smart Start Leadership Coalition Meeting. The public is invited to a special presentation at the Bartlesville Community Center entitled "Bridging Connections: Young in Age With Young at Heart" beginning at 2 p.m. Lt. Governor Jari Askins will have opening remarks.
Wednesday, January 27, Washington County Child Care Foundation/Delaware Child Development Staff are treated to discussions with Dr. Rosebrook regarding their recently announced intentions for an intergenerational early childhood education site, Bridging Connections, on the grounds of the proposed Hillcrest Village Intergenerational Living Center in Bartlesville. She will also speak to the Downtown Kiwanis Club noon meeting on "Hand-in-Hand...Together We Can!" at the Bartlesville Community Center.
The goal of intergenerational programming is to unite the generations through providing joint services, programs, activities, and opportunities for generations to interact (Scannell & Roberts, 1995). Generationally-enriched environments are stimulating, age-integrated settings that provide care and ongoing interactions for Children and Elders (Rosebrook, 2000).
Vicki Rosebrook earned a PhD in Natural Health & Healing/ emphasis in Lifespan Human Development, MA in Education, and BS in Child & Family Development. Dr. Rosebrook holds a Graduate Intergenerational Specialist Certificate, Eden Alternative Associates Certification, and is a National Representative for the Council for Early Childhood Recognition. In over eighteen years of postsecondary teaching, she taught Early Childhood Education, Education, Diversity, Intergenerational Studies, and First Year Seminar Courses. She has presented hundreds of training sessions and provided numerous keynote addresses. Presently, she is the Executive Director of the Macklin Intergenerational Institute, aiming for the CIO position – Chief Imagination Officer.
