HollandsworthMy name is Pam Van Schijndel and I am the Assistant Director at the Caney Early Care and Education Center. I was born and raised in Caney and I have been married for ten years to Pascal. We have two children, Tim and Erik. I have an Associates of Arts and Associates of Science degree from Coffeyville Community College, and I am getting ready to start classes to complete my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education.

For the last ten years, prior to coming to CECEC, I worked for Wal-Mart Administration in Bartlesville with seven of those years in management. My husband, Pascal, is employed by Cessna in Independence. Our oldest son graduated from Caney Valley High School last year and our youngest is in the third grade at Lincoln Memorial Grade School.

HollandsworthMy name is Nancy Hollandsworth and I am the Master Teacher in the Full day Preschool Classroom.  I have been with the Caney Early Care and Education Center two and half years.  Before being employed by the Caney Center I worked for Tri-County at the Coffeyville Community Elementary in the Special needs room.  When my children were young I had a child care center in my home.  I graduated from Coffeyville Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Sociology.  I have lived in Caney for 40 years.  I was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and then at the age of twelve moved with my Mother to South Houston, Texas.  My husband Victor and I have 4 grown children: Vicki Ryan (Nurse), Emily Ramos (Nurse), Sandra Hollandsworth (International School Teacher) and Vince Hollandsworth (Welder).   We also have 7 wonderful grandchildren.  I believe children learn through play and experiences with the daily routines of everyday life.  I believe in taking the time to read to children on a daily bases.  Children love to be read to and to pretend they are reading to themselves.  I believe in a good and strong relationship the children and their families.

TeacherI am originally from Claremore, Oklahoma area. I obtained my Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Independence Community college in 1987. In 1989 I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS with Honors in Science. I have since taken numerous hours in Early Childhood Education; most through Kansas State University.

I believe that every child can learn and that each learns in his own unique way. I believe that all children learn through observation and hands on activities and that play is a valuable learning tool. Through play with sand, water, clay, blocks, etc., children learn to mix, measure, count, problem solve as well as how to accept differences and likenesses of their peers. I feel parents should be actively involved in their child’s education and should be encouraged to spend time in play with their children.

My teaching experience includes:  teaching for USD#445, USD# 436, Tri-Co Special Ed, Parents As Teachers, and Caney Early Care and Education. I have been married 32 years and have 3 married children and ten grandchildren.
