I am the Child Care Center Coordinator of Delaware Child Development. I have a Bachelors Degree in Child Development from Concordia University. i have been working with families and children since 2000 and with the DCD program since 2001. I also worked as an assistant teacher, master teacher, center director and administrator in the states of Oklahoma and Kansas. I have served on a variety of local, state and national boards and workgroups. My philosophy on working with children is that everyday experiences offer learning opportunities. We as educators need to offer the opportunity for children to expand upon prior knowledge and skills by planning purposeful play experiences. Children learn through hands on experiences not by examples. Brain development research has proven the importance of early learning experiences for children and those early learning experiences focus on the process instead of the end result or product of the children’s daily experiences

I am the Master Teacher at Caney Early Care and Education Center working with children ages
2 to 5. I have been teaching at the Caney Early Care and Education Center for 5 years. Prior to my employment here, I worked for Tri-County at the Coffeyville Community Elementary in the Special Needs room. When my children were young, I had a child care center in our home. I graduated from Coffeyville Community College with an Associates of Arts Degree in Sociology.
I have lived in Caney 40 years and have 3 wonderful children with my husband, Victor. Emily is a nurse, Sandra is an international art teacher and Vince is a welder. I am the proud grandmother of two cuties, Blake and Baylee.
As a mother, grandmother, teacher and life-long learner, I have made it a priority to continue taking classes in Early Childhood Education. One of the classes I took last summer was Childhood Literature. I believe that taking the time to read to your child on a daily basis helps build strong relationships as well as all the other benefits of reading. Children love to be read to and pretending to read to themselves.
My philosophy of teaching focuses on that all children deserve to be treated with love and respect. They learn best when they feel safe, secure and confident to make choices, experiment through play and experience routines based on everyday life.
