Information

The Delaware Voucher Program is designed to help Native American families help themselves. It was established to provide families with quality child care assistance while parents are working, attending school, or in a certified training program.

Because these families have the assurance of child care assistance, they are able to maintain good work attendance and/or receive additional education/training. This makes it possible for the family income to increase and their quality of lifestyle to improve. The DCD Voucher Program has proven to be needed and successful for Native American families in our area.

Qualifications

To participate, children must have a Certified Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card and the family must meet income eligibility guidelines. Participating children should have their own CDIB card on file within 6 months of enrolling in the Voucher Program.

layI am employed as the Voucher Program Assistant with the Delaware Child Development (DCD).  I have been on staff since 1999. I am a graduate of Caney High School and Coffeyville Community College, where I received an AA degree in Business.  I have other duties at DCD as well.   I work with our three child care centers located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Chelsea, Oklahoma and Caney, Kansas; reporting their monthly child nutrition program (CACFP) information to the respective states.  I also work as Administrative Assistant, recording all the documentation for our 5 HUD-funded construction projects awarded to the Delaware Tribe.  I assist our Executive Director, Sherry Rackliff, with our board meetings and in any other needed areas.  I am currently serving on the National Indian Child Care Association (NICCA) Board of Directors.  NICCA works to improve, inform, maintain, and protect Tribal child care.
DCD is made up of a team of individuals committed to working with children, families, and communities; to educate on the importance of early childhood development, what is involved in that development, and the lifelong difference it can make in children’s lives.  I have always been a fan of children, so I feel truly fortunate to be working with this group of people who place a high priority on the lives and future of the “little people.”
